In the past, media blackouts have been a problem for both gamers and media outlets.
But now, in the midst of the ongoing global media blackout, PS5 users may be able to use their PS5 media remotes to get around these problems.
In a new video posted to Reddit, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Senior Technical Officer, Michael Dood, said that the company is working on an update to the PS5’s Media Blackouts feature to let media outlets and players access their media.
“We’re going to be implementing an update that we’re calling the Media Black Out,” Dood said in the video.
“So, we’re not going to get rid of it entirely.
But we’ll make it so that if you’re a media outlet or player, you can still use the Media Banish option.””
The new Media Bans will allow you to access all of your media, regardless of whether or not you have the media blackout disabled.”
Dood added that the new feature will also allow media outlets to create an account and create a media blackout.
While Sony hasn’t yet officially confirmed the new Media Black Outs feature, Dood did confirm that they will be rolling it out to users on July 23.
Sony Interactive Entertainment is one of the biggest publishers in the PlayStation industry.
It’s made some notable console releases in the past and, most recently, launched the PS4 Pro.
