Google has announced that it is hiring an additional 200 people as part of its media jobs programme.
In an internal memo published today, the company said it is targeting a total of 5,000 jobs to help it “provide a higher level of flexibility for our media content creators”.
It is the latest move by the tech company to expand its presence in the Indian media market, following a massive media job-hunt in 2016.
In January, Google added a new category for job seekers, “media” on its job-seekers portal.
Google has also made a concerted push to find people to help build its new media platforms, including its YouTube and YouTube Red, which offer video sharing, search and other services.
Its hiring of 200 people will help it hire a larger staff to work with its media partners, the firm said.
Earlier this year, Google announced that its advertising platform AdSense would be integrated into YouTube and that it would invest in video sharing and search in India.”
